Clark Construction Chairman John Clark has announced that Sam Clark has been appointed as President of Clark Construction, effective February 1, 2010. In making the announcement, John Clark emphasized that the entire Clark Construction management team remains intact. Charles Clark remains as company CEO and Kenneth Lawless will continue to serve as Executive Vice President.
"Sam Clark's appointment as President of Clark Construction provides more talent and depth to our great management team," said John Clark. "Sam's proven track record in the industry and the tremendous organization already in place make for a winning combination that we feel is unmatched in the industry."
"It is an honor and a privilege to be selected as President of Clark Construction, which has such a great heritage as an industry leader for more than six decades," said Sam Clark. "I look forward to continuing to work with all our valued team members who share a commitment towards excellence and growth."
Sam Clark continues the Clark lineage as President, being the fourth to serve over the firm’s 64 years. Sam joined Clark Construction as a Project Manager in 1996. During his 14-year career, Sam has been involved in many market sectors and is most notably known for his expertise in casinos and resort venues. From 2005 to 2009, Sam was the Project Director for two most recent, Las Vegas-style, Indian gaming casinos in Michigan-Odawa Casino Resort in Petoskey and FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek.
Two of Sam Clark's projects have been recognized as winners of the prestigious Associated General Contracters Build Michigan Award. Sam was Project Director for Michigan's newest full service resort and largest indoor water park, Mountain Grand Lodge and Avalanche Bay at Boyne Mountain. Those projects were recognized with the AGC's 2005 Build Michigan Award. Most recently FireKeepers Casino was recognized as the 2009 Build Michigan Award winner.
Sam is currently serving as Project Director for the new Wellness Pavilion at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey. Construction on that project is expected to begin this March and be completed in April 2011.
Sam Clark served in the U.S. Army from 1991 to 1994 and was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington. Upon his honorable discharged, he enrolled at Northern Michigan University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Building Construction Management.
