History

Clark Construction Company is a family owned business incorporated in 1946. Leon P. Clark, founder, started the company shortly after World War II ended. His main focus during the early years was to help convert General Motors automotive plants from wartime production facilities back into factories that would once again build the American automobile.

Clark Construction's work at the factories of one of the nation's largest auto-makers and one of Michigan's largest employers quickly provided the necessary business contacts and project management skills the company would need in order to grow. By the early 1950's, Clark was building commercial buildings, schools, correctional facilities, office buildings and manufacturing facilities all over Michigan. During the late 1950's and early 1960's the company began to enter the healthcare and power plant markets. Expanded services, a growing project management and support staff, combined with a conservative approach to business and a remarkably strong work ethic made Clark one of the largest and most reputable full service construction firms in Michigan.

Today Clark Construction's culture is still defined by excellence in project management skills and strong ethics in all that we do. The company has grown over the years but the ethic and the legacy of Leon Clark have remained. Two of Leon's eleven children lead the company today, John and Chuck. Clark continues to focus on project management skills with an expert staff of civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, architects, seasoned supervisors and professional managers, estimators, schedulers and administrators. In addition to the prestigious state and national industry awards presented to Clark Construction for excellence, Clark's long history of ethics in business has been recognized with a national American Business Ethics Award. Clark Construction Company's client testimonials regarding service, quality, excellent supervision and satisfaction are proof positive that Clark is still an "Owner's Contractor" dedicated to serving the Owner's best interests.
