Leed® & Green Building
There is a growing demand for “green” buildings. Both the public and private sectors are asking for buildings that are environmentally friendly—in design, in energy consumption, and in the way they are constructed.
The LEED™ (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System, developed by the U. S. Green building Council, is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED™
was created to:
- establish a common standard of measurement
- promote integrated, whole-building design practices
- recognize environmental leadership in the building industry
