The amount of attention paid to the open space areas and mitigation of wetlands at Waterside Marketplace is unique among retail developments. Approximately one-third of the 88-acre site was reserved as green space. Seven building shells in four distinct structures provide retail and restaurant dining options at this upscale 455,000 sq. ft. shopping center in Macomb County, Michigan.

The upscale shopping destination in southeast Michigan underwent a transformation when Nordstrom was added as the fifth anchor store. Glass played a significant part in the mall makeover. The new construction features a glass canopy and corresponding glass wall system which graces the valet entrance in the Nordstrom’s wing. Other uses of glass in the renovation included a new custom glass elevator and spacious skylights in the common areas.

One of Michigan's longest established shopping centers received a new look during this comprehensive redevelopment of the entire site. Two top merchants — Target and Wal-Mart — were added as the anchor stores. Sitework encompassed 60 acres of the 80-acre site creating 1,670 parking spaces, plus architectural concrete and landscaping interest, and a detention pond with water features.
